DEVELOPING THE INTUITIVE MIND
The following article will be published in several new age publications

Intuition is a deep knowing
of the truth regardless of the circumstances physically presented. It is paying attention to: the faintest of thoughts on the physical level, the nuances of dreams on the astral level and information revealed during meditation.

One’s true nature is to tap into all inner resources for guidance, wisdom and peace of mind. However, with the stresses and strains of life, the mind becomes cluttered with mental debris. We lose the ability to easily access the information we seek to resolve situations in our everyday life. Clarity becomes lost with our muddled thinking. Often we think in circles.

A prerequisite, to accessing the innate wisdom of intuition, is a still mind. By simply allowing the luxury of daily quiet time, you will gradually begin to remember the process to acquire information, connect with creativity, to solve dilemmas and to find the reservoir of tranquillity within.

The development of intuition is available to anyone who will commit to a regular daily practice of quietude whether inside the home or outside in nature. During this time frame one must turn off all noise and chatter within the mind as well as outside in the surroundings. This quiet time can start daily with merely five minutes a day, timed by a kitchen timer.

The challenge is to be consistent and also to keep the mind clear as a receptacle for
information. This can be accomplished by creating an imaginary hidden and safe place in your mind where you can be comfortable with nature. It could be a childhood place of memory, a place you have visited on vacation or a location you always wanted to visit. Tuning in with all your senses to this scene will allow you to merge more easily with the comfort and peacefulness that relaxation affords.

Once you are in the relaxing scene you are imagining, you can then just "be". If any thoughts intrude you just ask them to leave. If this seems too difficult, you can allow all your worries, cares, concerns, and stresses to fall to the ground for the designated time period. You will be able to gather them all up after the quiet session is over.

If you should choose to be outside in nature during this time frame, the four elements can assist you in more refined thinking. You can ask the wind what you need to learn from it for your highest good. You can then ask Mother Earth what wisdom she has to share with you. Next, tune into the vibration of the ocean and ask for information for the next level of your path. Finally, focus on the sun and ask for it to share knowledge with you.

After these individual requests or any others are made, then comes the tricky part of
intuition. That is, to TRUST the immediate first impressions or answers you receive. If they are in response to a question that was asked, just trust the guidance that was presented and then act on the solution that was given. In time, most of your information and guidance will be delivered to you without the need for asking. By developing a still pool of silence in your mind, you will create a space for your inner intelligence to reach you. Remember that your mind is like a muscle that needs to be trained for peak efficiency. When you have successfully mastered the daily five minutes of silence, you can gradually increase it from ten to twenty minutes a day. In this manner you can receive the library of knowledge that is easily available if you just sit still and listen.

Often when people ask my opinion of which choice they should make in their life, I ask them to do the following technique. First they are to take a deep breath in, to the count of four and then hold it to another count of four. This is followed by exhaling to the count of four and then pause to the count of four until the inhalation. It is called 4-4-4-4 breathing. I ask them to do three cycles of this short breathing technique and then to focus on their heart area. The heart is by its nature intuitive. It is the key to the doorway of intuition. I ask them to mentally ask their heart the particular question of concern and to wait silently for the response. The answer may come as a vision, a personal symbol, words, thoughts, or just a knowing.

Whatever pops into your head initially after the question is stated is your inner answer, or your intuition. The difficulty with following your intuition is that it is internal, private, personal and cannot be proven. Asking others for advice is not a way to develop your own intuition.

In this age of information overload most of us do not have the time and resources to process the influx of data adequately. That is when intuition becomes vital. By tuning into your inner guidance, you can find out which choice to make, where you are going and how to arrive there on your journey called Earth School.
